چکیده
Triclosan, a widely used biocide broadly found in aquatic environments, is cause of concern due to its unknown effects on non-targets organisms. In this study, multi biomarker approach was order evaluate the 72 h-effect triclosan freshwater alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Raphidocelis subcapitata). at environmental relevant concentrations (27 and 37 μg L−1), caused decrease proliferative capacity, which accompanied by an increase cell size profound alteration algae shape. It that promoted intracellular accumulation reactive oxygen species, depletion non-enzymatic antioxidant defenses (reduced glutathione carotenoids) metabolic activity. A reduction photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll b) also observed. For highest concentration tested (37 efficiency detected along with diminution relative transport rate electrons chain. conclusion, presents deep impact microalga P. morphology physiology translated multiple target sites instead specific point (cellular membrane) observed organism (bacteria). Additionally, study contributes clarify toxicity mechanisms triclosan, green algae, showing existence distinct modes action depending microalga.

Effects of a complex mixture of therapeutic drugs on unicellular algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.
Pharmaceutically-active compounds are regularly and widely released into the aquatic environment in an unaltered form or as metabolites. So far, little is known about their potential detrimental effects on algae populations which can ultimately impact nutrient cycling and oxygen balance. For our analysis, the common microalga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (P. subcapitata) was exposed to a mix...

The growth-inhibiting and binary joint effects of 12 antibacterial agents on the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Korschikov) Hindák were investigated over 72-h exposures. The toxicity values (the median inhibitory concentration value, in micromoles) in decreasing order of sensitivity were triclosan (0.0018)>triclocarban (0.054)>roxithromycin (0.056)>clarithromycin (0.062)...
متن کاملToxicity Assessment of Expired Pesticides to Green Algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata
In order to investigate the effect of expired pesticides on the yield and growth rate of green algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, a study was conducted as per the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guideline number 201. Fifteen expired pesticide formulations, most commonly used in Indian agriculture, were tested in comparison with their unexpired counterparts. The ...
متن کاملThe combined toxic effects of nonpolar narcotic chemicals to Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata.
This paper presents the toxicity data of 10 nonpolar narcotic chemicals on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (green algae) assessed by a new algal toxicity testing technique conducted under air-tight environment. Based on DO production, median effective concentration (EC50) varies from 1.73 mg/L (1-octanol) to 8,040 mg/L (2-propanol). The endpoint of algal growth rate reveals similar sensitivity ...
متن کاملToxic Effect of Silver and Platinum Nanoparticles Toward the Freshwater Microalga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata
The growing use of nanoparticles in a wide range of products has resulted in their release into the aquatic environment; therefore, an understanding of the toxic effects of nanoparticles on aquatic organisms is of permanent importance. The aim of this study was to evaluate the toxicity of silver and platinum nanoparticles toward the freshwater microalga, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. Algal g...
